God will not compete with the noise of the world in your life.

This is such a weighty statement! We need guidance in our lives all the time. the good news is, what the Holy Spirit does is to guide the sons and daughters of God.  Romans 8:14 For all who are being led by the spirit of God, these are sons of God. Jesus said He would leave the church a helper, a comforter, and that’s the Holy Spirit. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, we are never alone!

However, how do we know we are receiving guidance from the Spirit? Does that just happen when things seem to fall in place? The answer is no! In fact, we can’t rely on opportunities for God’s will in our lives. To pick out the guidance from the Holy Spirit we need to develop ourselves. See, man is made up of soul, body and spirit. The soul includes the mind, emotions and imaginations. The body is the flesh, the house. Finally and most importantly, the spirit is the real you. That’s what’s alive in you and will never die. Every human being is a spirit living in a body and has a soul.

When you get born again, the spirit man is what becomes new. 2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ He is a new creation, the old is gone, the new has come. Everyone is a spirit man, it just depends on where you lie, eternal life (salvation, new spirit man) or death (not born again, of this world). Good thing is that there’s hope for everyone, to be saved you just need to believe that Jesus Christ the son of God died for your sins and confess it. Romans 10:9. It’s that simple! And you receive eternal life. How awesome!

The human spirit is where we receive direction from the Holy Spirit. The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all inward parts of the belly. Proverbs 20:27. To be able to pick out what  God through the Holy Spirit is telling us, the human spirit/spirit man must be alert. This is the surest way of knowing you are walking in God’s plan and will for your life. Paul constantly tells us that the flesh and spirit are at war. Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 

This then explains why it’s not obvious to pick out what the Holy Spirit is saying even when we are born again. We need to submit the flesh to the spirit; the body(look at it as a container that houses the real you) to the spirit man. We take care of our bodies pretty good; we eat well, exercise, dress up etc and this is all great. But if we do all this to a simple  house, how much more care does the human spirit deserve? The one who lives in the house?

Here’s how we develop the spirit man:

• Right spiritual diet-That’s the word of God. Read read read! The more you read, the more you grow.
• Breathe-The spiritual breath is prayer. We can’t live without breathing, we can’t survive without prayer.1st Thessalonians 5:17 Be unceasing in prayer. (Praying perseveringly)
• Pray in the Holy Ghost. Praying in tongues edifies you. 1st Corinthians 14:4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself.
• Meditate on the word of God. Let’s spend time with God, not in a rush to get up and go somewhere(not that this is wrong but it’s not the best). Let’s plan to have time with Jesus, include it on your schedule. Then listen to Him, think about His goodness and love, talk to Him (but remember to listen too).He desires to be desired and longs to be longed for. Similar to having a date with a friend and gradually learning them because you spend quality time with them; when you do the same with your maker who loves you unconditionally, He will teach you how He speaks and you will learn how to pick out His voice! Give Him more attention.

Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; MEDITATE on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
